
When planning a series of special anniversary sailings to celebrate 35 years of Crystal, we knew there was one person in particular who had to be there – someone who has been with us from our early days and remains a much-loved face of Crystal today: Chef Nobu Matsuhisa.
The legendary chef was our first culinary collaboration, and his restaurants aboard our ships remain the only Nobu outposts on the ocean. Originally called Silk Road and now known as Umi Uma®, a visit to this specialty dining restaurant remains a highlight of every voyage.
But it’s not just his expertise in the kitchen that makes Nobu an integral part of the Crystal family – he embodies our values in other ways. Joining us on our anniversary sailing, Nobu brought his family with him, enjoying the opportunity to share special moments on board and explore new destinations on shore with them, just as our guests love to do. He was generous with his time, stopping for pictures, signing placemats during the sake-tasting session, and pitching in to prep sushi alongside his hand-picked brigade of executive chefs.
